Epping Town Football Club welcomed Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing as a special guest at Saturday’s home match against Lakeside Reserves.
Dame Eleanor was welcomed by club chairman Chris Ottaway who introduced her to other club officials, representatives from matchday sponsors Tricky’s Taxis, manager Billy Cove and the players before kick-off.
Mr Ottaway discussed with Dame Eleanor the club’s plans which include a spectator shelter / stand when funding sources can be identified with Epping Town Council.
Epping Town won the match 3-0 with a hat-trick from James Peagram on his club debut.
Dame Eleanor said: “I was delighted to accept the club’s invitation to their home match on Saturday – and am pleased I was able to bring them good luck!
“There is a wonderful set-up at the club both on and off the pitch with the club working closely with the community with several local businesses showing their support by sponsoring the club.
“This is great to see and I wish everyone involved with Epping Town the best of luck as they press for promotion this season.”
Club chairman Chris Ottaway said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Dame Eleanor to Stonards Hill and to be able to share with her news about how the club is progressing as we continue to further our ties with the local community.
