Former Colchester United and Leyton Orient player Joe Keith and non-league stalwart Elliot Styles have joined Epping Town Football Club.
Keith spent six seasons with Colchester United scoring 28 goals in 247 league and cup appearances for the north Essex club before a brief loan spell with Bristol City and then more than 50 appearances in an 18-month spell at Leyton Orient.
He most recently played for Brentford and AFC Hornchurch before becoming manager at Tilbury.
Styles – described by Epping Town manager Billy Cove as “a real-life non-league legend – joins the Stonards Hill-based club after making more than 500 appearances for AFC Hornchurch.
The pair are expected to be in the squad for Saturday’s home match against Galleywood Reserves (2pm kick-off).
Billy Cove said: “Joe Keith is a friend who I admire tremendously. He left his post as manager of Tilbury a little while ago and mentioned about coming over.
“I didn’t believe him at first but the discussion started to get serious and we agreed for him to join us.
“I’m literally still pinching myself as I cannot believe these two players will be in our changing room.
“It’s a huge honour for me and it’ll be fantastic for our younger players to be around great men like these. I’m really excited.”
Epping Town Football Club chairman Chris Ottaway said: “This is exciting news for the club and demonstrates how appealing we are making the club look. Billy and Asa (Pamplin) are working hard behind the scenes to attract top quality footballers and this weekend’s signing of Joe Keith and Elliot Styles demonstrate how serious we are about it.”
