Match Report

The manager of Epping Town Football Club said he is "the proudest man alive" after seeing his "very special group of players" gain promotion with two matches of the season to play.

Epping Town FC, which was 'reborn' this year with a new manager, chairman, backroom team and host of new players, ensured promotion from Senior Division Four of the Essex Olympian League with a 3-1 victory at Lakeside Reserves yesterday (Saturday).

The win ensured Epping Town the runners-up spot - and they could yet still win the title although leaders Corinthians have a game in hand.

Epping Town manager Billy Cove said: "I am so pleased for this group of players who have only been together for seven months. To win promotion with two games to go is a huge achievement."

He added: "I’ve won promotion and cups as a player but nothing comes close to the way I am feeling now. I am the proudest man alive. We’ve assembled a very special group of players."
