A survey has been launched to establish the level of community support for a new football shelter (small stand) alongside Epping Town Football Club’s pitch at the Stonards Hill recreation ground.
Epping Town Football Club and Epping Town Council are working in partnership exploring the possibility of having a spectator shelter at the football ground, on the site of the previous shelter near to the entrance from Fairfield Road.
Epping Town is set to apply for grant funding for the shelter, with the bid supported by the town council.
The club ended this season as runners-up in the Essex Olympian League Senior Division 4 with the best goal difference in the entire league.
The club’s efforts are set to see it given a ‘double promotion’ up to Senior Division 2.
Club chairman Chris Ottaway said: “The players more than did their bit for the club this season by achieving promotion several weeks before the end of the season.
“We are keen to see the club develop both on and off the pitch and a spectator shelter is a key facility if we are to attract larger crowds to Stonards Hill.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the town council on the funding application. It would be great if we can have the shelter for the new season in August.”
