Epping Town scored in the opening minutes and the dying seconds of the match but went out 3-2 to FC Hamlets in the Second Round of the Senior League Cup.
Alex Paraskeva gave Epping Town the lead but the home side were 1-3 down at half-time.
Paraskeva then spent most of the second half in goal as a replacement for Brad Molloy who went off with a shoulder injury.
Eben Rowledge scored Epping Town’s second goal with almost the last kick of the match, but it was not to be for the hosts.
In Division Two of the Essex Olympian League, Epping Town’s nearest rivals Corinthians lost 4-1 at Beacon Hill Rovers to leave Epping Town top of the league with a game in hand over Corinthians.
Epping Town, Corinthians and Leigh Town all have 12 points; Leigh Town and Epping Town have both played four matches (Corinthians have played five).
Next Saturday Epping Town are again in cup action when the host Hampton Town (2.15pm kick off at the Stonards Hill recreation ground, Epping) in the First Round of the Anagram Records Trophy.
