Epping Win first game at their new Home

Thanks to Dan Hills for the Fantastic picures

103 people enjoyed a sunny afternoon at Epping Upper Clapton Rugby club with Epping running out 2-0 winners in a close game against Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ in the Essex Senior Cup,

With the Sun out and a strong breeze blowing, Epping started there new era with a strong win against youthful and energetic  Hullbridge Sports ‘A’, Epping edged the opening exchanges with some pleasing passing and soon found there feet at the new venue, Hullbridge had some decent chances to take the lead but did trouble impressive keeper Skingley, Epping broke the deadlock on 24 mins when Charlie Pollard pounced on a loose ball in the box to fire it home, Epping continued to dominate possession limiting Hullbridge to only half chances.

Half Time the Spectators made them selves familiar with the new facility’s and enjoyed the view from the balcony in the modern, spacious and well equipped clubhouse, including a bar that was staffed and well stocked, anyone coming to Epping games for the last couple of decades will understand how much of a change this is.

with the second half underway Callum Turner showed some touches of class to retain and control possession and would been fitting for him to score but his header rattled the bar, Epping’s second came with some good passing and a great run by substitute Charlie Avent showing blistering pace and he laid the ball of for Chris Gormley for a smart finish in the top right hand corner, Epping could have had a couple of more but 2-0 was a fair reflection of the match and we go on to the second round of the Senior Cup (date to be announced)

The Reserve team started of there season with an away fixture at Collier Row Reserves, unfortunately running out 7-3 losers they now play in the Reserve Cup next week at home Vs Runwell FC 14:15 Kick Off, with the 1st team taking the journey to Rochford to start their league campaign
