Corinthians 2 - 0 Epping Town FC

September 15, 2018 - 2:30 pm at Stambridge Memorial Ground

Epping Town suffered only their third defeat in 13 pre-season and competitive matches this season when they went down 2-0 to new table-toppers Corinthians in Senior Division Four of the Essex Olympian League.

A draw would have seen Epping Town go top of the league after two matches but the defeat sees them drop to sixth, three points off the lead.

It was the first match this season that Epping Town failed to score.

Epping Town manager Billy Cove said: “When you miss a penalty and have a player sent off, yet it has absolutely no bearing on the result, you know you have been well and truly beaten by a better side.”

Next Saturday Epping Town take on Buckhurst Hill Reserves at Roding Lane, Buckhurst Hill (2.30pm kick-off) with the hosts two places below Epping Town with the same number of points having played one game more.

With Epping Town FC trailing 1-0 in the second half, a good move forwards results in the ball being dinked past the Corinthians ‘keeper…

With the ball just about to roll into the unguarded net…

Corinthian’s make a goal line clearance to frustrate Epping Town.
