Epping Town are up to third in the Essex Olympian League Senior Division Four after a 5-4 victory over Catholic United Reserves at Stonards Hill.
With Buckhurst Hill Reserves losing 6-2 to leaders Corinthians, Epping Town boosted their promotion campaign and are now nine points behind Corinthians (with two games in hand) and eight points behind second-placed Dagenham United over whom they have five games in hand.
In today’s other key fixture, Dagenham United – who Epping entertain next Saturday (2pm kick off) – won 5-3 at Shenfield Reserves.
Epping Town took the lead in the first minute with Alex Paraskeva giving the home side the lead from the penalty spot.
He went on to complete a first-half hat-trick with former AFC Hornchurch player Elliott Styles scoring a header on his Epping debut as the hosts went in 4-1 up at the break.
Joe Killingback scored Epping’s only goal of the second half but the visitors finding the net three times it meant a tense final 15 minutes before the hosts secured their fifth successive victory.
