Epping Town are into the Second Round of the Essex Junior Cup after a 4-0 victory at Writtle.
Barry Fingleton opened the scoring – to net the club’s 50th goal of the season in only their 15th match – with Tim Curtis and Alex Paraskeva putting Epping Town 3-0 up at half-time.
Tim Curtis scored Epping’s fourth – his second brace in as many matches – in the second half as Epping Town continued their fine cup form – yet to concede a goal in two cup outings (following their 5-0 victory over Old Barkabbeyans in the First Round of the Senior League Cup).
Manager Billy Cove was delighted with the performance after his matchday preparations were hampered by injuries.
He said: “We had four players drop out for one reason or another… so we had to rejig things but to win 4-0 away from home in the cup is superb. All the boys did really well.
“The boys that came in, that haven’t been playing regularly for the past few weeks, were absolutely superb.”
Epping Town are in cup action again next Saturday when they visit Roydon in the Second Round of the Senior League Cup and travel to Clapton Community on Friday, October 12, for a First Round Anagram Records Trophy tie.
