Epping Town FC vs Canning Town Reserves

Match Report

Epping Town need just one point from their visit to rivals Lakeside Reserves on Saturday to guarantee themselves promotion after they ended the home season with a 6-0 demolition of Canning Town Reserves at Stonards Hill yesterday.

Promotion from Essex Olympian League Senior Division Four would have been assured if Lakeside Reserves had dropped points at Leigh Ramblers Reserves, but Lakeside won 3-1.

A hat-trick from Alex Paraskeva, two goals from Jack Leachman and another from Eamon Payne ensured Billy Cove’s team are all but assured of football at a higher level next season.

Epping Town could still win the league title. They are currently one point behind leaders Corinthians who have a game in hand.

Yesterday’s victory – in front of a 60-strong crowd – also further improved Epping Town’s goal difference – to +65, by far the best int the whole league.

Shenfield AFC Reserves vc Epping Town FC

Match Report

Epping Town will be promoted from Senior Division Four of the Essex Olympian League if they win their final home match of the season next Saturday – and one other result goes their way.

The runners-up spot will be guaranteed if Epping Town beat Canning Town Reserves at Stonards Hill and fourth-placed Lakeside Reserves fail to beat Leigh Ramblers Reserves.

And with four matches still to play Epping Town have every chance of overtaking leaders Corinthians, who are four points ahead, and clinch the title.

Victory for Epping Town next Saturday would take them to 43 points.

The maximum points tally Lakeside Reserves can manage is 45 (and they host Epping Town in two weeks time) as they currently have five matches to play.

Should Lakeside lose or draw at Leigh Ramblers Reserves, then the most points they could then achieve, from their final four matches, would be 43, but Epping would still finish the season with more wins and have a far superior goal difference (currently +59 to Lakeside’s +16).

Epping Town today recorded a comfortable 5-0 victory at Shenfield Reserves with a brace from Glen Warwick and another from Chris Lockwood as Epping went in 3-0 up at half-time.
